Toolholding System For Swiss Types

; font-size: 12pt;">Iscar Metals, Inc. says its SwissCut tools are characterized by their ergonomic insert clamping and simple handling. The line is intended for use with CNC-controlled Swiss-type lathes as well as Swiss-type automatics.

?

The toolholder is designed to offer accurate indexing of the custom insert. The tangentially-clamped insert can be indexed without removing the toolholder from the machine turret. Clamping and releasing the insert can be accomplished from either side of the toolholder. According to the Milling inserts company, the bottom and rear prisms provide stability and precision when turning in alternating directions or where relatively high loads are applied.

?

The new holders are available in square shanks sizes of 0.375", 0.393", 0.472", 0.50" and 0.63". All RCGT Insert inserts are available in the IC1008 grade with TiAlN and TiN PVD coated layers. The substrate is Iscars IC08 grade, a sub-micron grade that, according to the company, is characterized by its favorable notch wear and built-up edge resistance.

Toolholder for High Production Tapping

Emuge’s SpeedSynchro toolholding solution features an integrated transmission of 1:4.412 for optimizing thread production on CNC machines with synchronous spindles. The integrated transmission is combined with the product’s minimum-length compensation to efficiently work with high cutting speeds and a relatively low synchronous machine tool speed, compensating for synchronization errors during the threading process.

According to the company, the product rod peeling inserts achieves exact thread depths because it does not reverse the direction of rotation. WCMT Insert The toolholder supports a maximum spindle speed of 2,000 rpm and a maximum tapping speed of 8,824 rpm. The cutting range is from M1 - M8 and an ER16 toolholder size is offered. Internal coolant capability is provided.

Ewag Laser Line Ultra Fabricates Micro Tools from Hard Alloys

As products grow thinner and lighter to meet the needs of the electronics, medical and micromechanics industries, United Grinding and Ewag have developed the Laser Line Ultra for machining the microtools required for these applications. Designed for hard and ultrahard materials such as tungsten carbide (WC), polycrystalline diamond (PCD), chemical vapor deposition diamond (CVD-D) and cubic boron nitride (CBN), the machine uses an eight-axis configuration and picosecond lasers to machine complex micro geometries in cutting tools regardless of the material’s Carbide Drilling Inserts hardness and with negligible heat-affected zones.

Ultrashort laser pulses and the Ewag Drill Module enable machining tools with diameter-to-length ratios ranging to 1-20. This technology is said to enable tip thinning and chamfering. Unlike conventional techniques, the force-free laser process eliminates waste from tool breakage, the company says.

Laser processing ordinarily removes material according to thermal mechanisms. However, ultrashort laser pulses with correct laser parameters leave Tungsten Carbide Inserts fewer heat-affected zones because there is less time for heat to conduct into the cutting tool. For example, carbide drill bits fabricated with the Laser Line Ultra can accept the same processing chain and recipe for PVD coatings as ground cutting tools, the company says.

Laser Alignment Tool Improves Manufacturing Efficiency

Pinpoint Laser Systems offers a 2D laser microgage for precision measuring, machine alignment, calibration and other industrial applications. Roll and web lines; CNC cutting and milling equipment; lathes; stamping presses; injection molding machines; extrusion systems; and other production equipment can be checked and aligned for improved TCMT Insert operating efficiency and reduced downtime. The gage is compact, easy to set up and use right on the factory floor, the company says.

The gage combines a compact laser transmitter with a receiver and digital display. As the laser beam moves across the receiver in a vertical or horizontal path, the display provides a reading of the motion, accurate to 0.0001". This product will operated over a distance of 180 ft. with a bright, red beam that is quickly adaptable to many industrial applications. Instructions on the display guide the operator through the alignment project. Several accessories allow for alignment of straightness, runout, parallelism, squareness, roll and web alignment, shaft and bore alignment, flatness measuring and more.

The two-axis laser microgage operates on batteries, and all components are machines TNGG Insert of solid aluminum with a hard anodized coating for wear resistance. A sealed push-button keypad and large LCD display make the gage easy and convenient to use in demanding industrial environments, the company says.?

CAD Software For Progressive Tool Design

Equipped with all the standard features of Missler Softwares TopSolid, TopSolidProgress is?a fully integrated CAD module developed specifically for progressive tool design. The application manages all cutting, folding and deforming stages of sheet metal, as well as non-standard matrices and the creation of die sets, punches and drafts.

?

Some DCMT Insert of the major additions to the?new?version of?the?software are improvements to?BlankWizard, a module that allows die designers to define required blanks and design strips in a completely associative process. The module now features material characteristic and analytical result analysis. It also can generate wireframe unfolding, touching up curves to obtain simpler geometries in initial strip stages. Other improvements to strip creation include a calculation function of the median surface of sheet metal,?an option to automatically prolong bends on connected neighbor bar peeling inserts faces and manual calculation tools for geometery of intermediary deformation stages.

?

For defining standard die bases, a new assistant can import model die bases equipped with guiding elements, fixations and more. For component management, the software features improved treatment of equipped components, extension of process mechanisms associated with components, improved functions for the definition of components and restructuring of ergonomy and libraries.

Toolholder with Single Base Holder and Adapters with ER Collect Pocket

The Preci-Flex tooling system is designed to be a fast, accurate and cost-effective solution for turning machine tooling change-overs. According to the company, the modular system is the first tooling system on the market with a single-base holder and multiple tooling adapters that use the ER collet pocket. The system’s TCGT Insert conical and flat face planar interface allows the use of either an adapter or a standard ER Carbide Grooving Inserts collet and enables collets, endmill holders, expanding collet chucks and shrink fit tooling to be mounted on a single-base holder.

Available in a range of sizes, the tooling system provides unsurpassed productivity and reliability, with every toolholder offering repeatability within 5 microns, the company says. The system also virtually eliminates machine downtime and allows tooling adapters to be interchanged between fixed and rotary base holders for fast, economical machining.
